Advice needed from IE users

My blog, for some reason completely unknown to me, displays perfectly in Firefox, the browser I use, but does not display correctly in IE. I must be missing something, but I've spent a really long time trying to fix this, and as far as I can tell, the html is fine, so I'm concluding that it might be an IE issue. What's going on is that in IE, the actual posts display AFTER the sidebar content ends. But it works perfectly in Firefox, and I've gone so far as to look at other people's source code to check against mine, and indeed they are not having the same issue, even though their template is the same, the source code is the same, and so I'm completely confuzzled. Anyone have this happen to them? How did you fix it?

I hate Microsoft. They make EVERYTHING harder. And you pay through the nose for the pleasure.

Here via Michele's today. I use IE and did have the problem finding your post until I clicked to the invidual entry - meaning I went in through recent rants and raves section.

I've had the problem in the past too with some of my templates. Sometimes it's a matter of a missing > or something, although that does not explain why other browsers aren't having troubles. When I get into a real snafu with my layout I tend to just delete and replace the blogger code section with a fresh copy. It maybe some of the add-ons.

Clearly I am not an expert - I just know enough to cause some trouble for myself and others. ;) Good luck!

it's true, I'm afraid, blogger is not 'supported' by IE - there is no way to fix it that I know of.

I have IE and this happens on almost every blogspot blog that I visit unless I have the window maximized. I don't know the answer. We all should just switch to firefox. I don't know know why I don't.

Ok the only suggestion I have is to CHECK all your images you have posted and make SURE none of them is wider then 400 pixels
so anything say 423 by 368 ( those are just random numbers) is going to push your content down on blogger.
Go through and check any images you have added, I am willing to bet that is your issue.
BTW Michele sent me I hope that helps lol.

It's an image thing. if you have an image or even a link that's too long for the space, Blogger moves the body down. I had the same thing, but with my sidebar at the bottom. As soon as the post with the too long image/link moves to archives, it'll fix itself. If it doesn't, then I would contact blogger.

Michele sent me! :)

Hi there- I'm sorry I'm the first one to comment on this post-- I'm completely clueless on these matters.. I'd love to be able to do different things with my blog but all I know how to do is fill in the blanks on blogspot..

all the blogs with this template (and the corresponding dark template) in IE are FUBAR. I don't know why. It's not good, but it's not your fault. Everyone should use firefox!

Weird. I just tried it in IE (Version 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519) and I'm not seeing any odd behaviour.

But that's why I stick pretty much to LJ (well, that and the ability to "access control" my blog entries; some are friends-only). If any of your readers are on LJ, I've syndicated Marjorie's blog as whatwas_i_think, although it only shows the first few lines of the post, and provides a link to the real thing if you want to comment.

I see the problem and this is actually quite simple to fix!

whats happening is that something in your sidebar is too large. I'm pretty sure its the bush counter.
what you can do is add something to the css in your template to hide overflow.

near the top of your template there should be a section labeled "page structure". below that are several headings that begin with #.
under the headings that say #main and #sidebar add:

overflow:hidden;

good luck :)
