Soda that tastes like cotton candy

Have you ever heard of Jones Soda? My kids are always begging to get some, and today I was so tired in the grocery store I finally agreed. It isn't cheap, but they swore up and down that it tastes better than any cream soda ever, and it's SOOO good that we just cannot pass it up. I've heard this about 2 bazillion times. They wore me down. I admit it, I'm a weak person.

I bought three bottles, one for each of us. The boy swigged his down within minutes of getting home from the grocery store, despite the fact that we had at least 20 bags to unpack, the fridge to empty out, and shelves to clean. Because, the truth is, doing the crossword puzzle in the Globe's TV Guide is WAY more important than actually putting away food that we plan to consume during the holiday. Geesh mom, are you dumb or something? And when one does a TV Guide crossword, one needs liquid refreshment, evidentally.

The Girl, she at least made some attempt to help when nagged, and we eventually got the stuff done that was absolutely necessary. Then I declared it was break time and sat down with my bottle at the computer. I opened the bottle, took a pull, and gah, this stuff is AWFUL. It tastes exactly like cotton candy. It is so sweet that your teeth hurt when drinking it. No wonder kids love it. The regular cream soda has 48 gms of carbs. And it's Kosher, certified by Star-K. Check out the back label.

The bottle is nice though, and the Boy reports that they rotate the pics on the bottles, so they feature many different designs.

And it's from Canada.

And they put customer photos on their labels.

And they support new music on their web site.

Wow...a company with soul. And Canadian, too. Neat!

This used to be somewhat of a mystery flavor. For a long time, they never really labeled this flavor, and I agree, it tastes just like cotton candy. Some flavor of Jones' are pretty good, like Green Apple, and the Vanilla Cola they made long before Coke put theirs out, but mostly, the bottles are just for show. I bought the 2005 Holiday Flavors set, but I don't have the courage to try it :)

Isn't the holiday flavors the sodas that taste like turkey and stuffing and cranberry sauce? My husband and I saw them in Target and went so far as to put them in our cart, but we ultimately chickened out.
