Where's the manager?

I made pizza for dinner tonight. The Boy had been helped to 4 slices already and asked me to help him to yet another slice.

"I want THAT one" he said in a silly voice.

"That's nice" I replied. "Help yourself"

He looked at me with horror. "Eeeemmm" he said, gesturing for me to pick up the slice and put it on his plate.

I reiterated, "Help yourself."

Again he looked horrified and said, "No, you have to help me. I can't help myself. It's your job to help me."

Oh yeah, my JOB. That's gonna get me serving right quick. I said in my snottiest voice, "I said Help Yourself."

He looked aghast and said, "The service around here sucks."

No comment from me, but I again gestured for him to help himself. He cracked a wise-ass smile and said, "Where's the manager?"

I told him I'm the manager and the owner. He said "Oh" and then helped himself.

The management of this restaurant is done with dinner and is no longer serving wise-asses. We're closed for the evening.

Good for you, Ms. Manager! Though I must say, I appreciated his developing sense of humor; a devestatingly useful thing to have as an adult....
