Home again, but the party is just starting #29

When I arrived back in Boston, there was a wheel chair waiting for me, and a friend to drive me home. I got home, dumped off my stuff, and my friend took me to the hospital where I met an orthopedic surgeon. He takes xrays and is astounded that my foot is not in a cast. So I get a nice new shiny fiberglass cast. It's my first fiberglass cast and I'm totally psyched that they allow it to get wet. I can swim. I can shower! I can get freaking pain killers. My foot was so swollen from that stupid wrap thing they put on at Alta Bates that the cast will have to be reapplied in a couple of weeks once the swelling goes down. The second cast will be a walking cast. I'll have my life back, I think. I'm such a Pollyanna.

Next is to find an attorney. I have a lawyer at home, whom I call and ask for a name in NoCal. He recommends a guy in San Francisco. I call the guy, I tell him the whole story, he takes the case on contingency, but he says it's a shoe-in. No doubt about whose fault it was. Broad daylight, the police report says that it was the cops fault, the excuse on file is the blue car in front of the blue house. I'm golden. But......

Uh huh and you believed the lawyer, who was a personal injury guy, yes? No no no. I have never met an ambulance chaser that was honest, at least not yet.

Last year I dislocated my right elbow and there was a plaster cast for 3 weeks. It was the usual one not the water proof kind.

How I hated it. In the humidity I used to go mad.

Michele sent me here to look at your cast.

If you tell me that the judge bought the blue car-blue house excuse, I'll...well, I'm not going to eat my hat, but it'll be something drastic. What hooey.

Also, thank goodness Dawn has a friend like you to say, yo, get rid of this D.A. (dumbass).
