Vermont Senator to Call for Bush-Cheney Impeachment

Vermont is looking better and better as a place to be proud to live. Always a liberal enclave, Vermont is often a leader in acting upon the wishes of the people over the desires of corporations. It could be because Vermont is large corporation poor, but I think it's because thinking people tend to gravitate towards Vermont as a great place to live. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it!

Vermont state senators voted yesterday to call for the impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney in what officials say was the first such vote by state lawmakers in the country. You gotta love those Vermonters. Declaring that the Bush administration's actions in foreign and domestic affairs raise "serious questions of constitutionality,"the Democratic-controlled Senate voted 16 to 9 in favor of the nonbinding resolution, which urges US Representative Peter Welch, a Democrat, to introduce a resolution in the House of Representatives to initiate impeachment proceedings.

I'm rubbing my hands in glee here, people. I cannot WAIT for this to happen. I've been screaming at the top of my lungs for years now that impeachment is an absolute necessity. Vermonters, who have lost 18 people in the Iraqi conflict, are feeling particularly angry:

"There is no president and vice president of the United States, in my judgment, who have worked harder to earn impeachment hearings than these two," Senate President Pro Tem Peter Shumlin, who orchestrated the vote, said later.

"They lied about the war in Iraq. They lied about the weapons of mass destruction. They lied about Saddam's involvement in 9/11. And the list goes on and on."

Current investigations against the Bush administrations will continue to find evidence to be used in impeachment proceedings. There is no doubt in my mind that this administration will go down in history as the worst example of corruption, misuse of taxpayer funds, and the biggest corporate steal ever.

What has America learned from this corrupt bunch of greedy assholes? Hopefully, we will be much more careful about how our elections are held, so that we will never allow someone to steal the Presidency again. I'm confident that we've learned to look at a candidate's background and not just dismiss claims of buying college degrees, military service, and government office. Please God, let us have learned that lesson.

As our constitutional liberties have been stripped away by this administration, let us also hope that we consider what kind of people might end up on the Supreme Court if we elect a certain candidate. This has always been a huge concern of mine, but I don't believe too many people thought about this when they pulled that lever for the Shrub. Now look what that vote has brought us. Legal phone tapping of ordinary citizens. Paranoia at the highest levels in government brought right to our homes. Fun, isn't it?

So I'm totally up for supporting Vermont in it's bid to get rid of these imposters and bring sanity back to America. No more Christian Right dominating the rest of us. No more big oil deciding what's good for the nation. No more corporate greed overriding common sense and common decency.

I plan to call my senators, Kerry and Kennedy, and ask them to support Vermont by calling for the impeachment of Bush and Cheney. Please tell me you're going to call your reps, too. It's the right thing to do.

Help Final Push to Impeachment

It’s time! ImpeachForPeace.org is traveling to Washington DC at the end of this month to deliver thousands of Do-It-Yourself Impeachment Memorials to key representatives in the House!

Support for impeachment is building. As of this writing, 14 reps are supporting Dennis Kucinich’s resolution to impeach Dick Cheney (H. Res. 333).

Even if you've sent them to your congressperson before, send us your DIY Memorials before we go:

You may not realize that the only thing standing between where we are today and a nationally televised impeachment investigation is the House Judiciary passing this resolution, which is currently awaiting consideration in their
committee. The head of this committee, John Conyers, has said recently that he supports the national impeachment movement.

All we need to push it over the edge is public support, and that’s where we come in.

Video of our trip will be posted on our website shortly upon our return. We’ll let you know when it’s up!

Here's a funny video about this unique strategy:

I've already contacted Kerry and Kennedy and my rep, too. But I'll do it again and again, until something happens to the idiot.
