Yet more things that confound me

When it is raining outside, thus cooling down the raging heatwave, are you supposed to turn off your air conditioners even though they keep the humidity out of the house?

If it is pouring outside, and your cat needs food which you didn't buy all weekend because you were admittedly too lazy, can you wait until it stops raining because you really don't want to deal with the puddles on the sidewalk? Or is that a terrible thing? There's a tiny bit of crumbly food left. He won't starve.

When your kid calls from summer school asking you to pick him up an hour early because he 'doesn't feel well' and you know he's just fine and wants to go back to sleep, is it OK to tell him to stick it out? Even if he has a teacher call back and plead his case?

Is it wrong to go back to sleep knowing that your kids want things from you, but you're too tired to care because you were up all night last night reading Harry Potter 6?

Should I be worried about our toothpaste even though I buy it in bulk and the tubes we're using are at least a year old?

Why are summer TV shows so freaking lame that it's not even worth watching anything other than Big Brother? And why don't they have reruns of the shows you never got to see, like Heros?

Hi Margalit,
just stopped by and had to comment because I noticed you have HCM, CHF. I'm a heart attack survivor (had it at 41), but am doing very well. I worked in cardiology for a long time and know how hard it can be to live with HCM. I hope you are doing well.
In reading your blog and having 2 kids of my own (11 and 17), naw. Don't feel bad. As Roseanne Barr used to say, "if my kids are alive at the end of the day, I've done my job"!!
Take care of yourself!
