Stuff you just gotta read

I think it will come as no surprise that I'm pretty much preoccupied with the Israel/Gaza war. It's pretty much all I think about and I've spent a lot of time finding new blogs, as well as reading my stalwart favorites, that are just as focused as I am. So I'm giving you some links to check out. These links are pro-Israel. I'm not going to try and lie and say that I'd present any anti-Israel links. You get enough of that in the mainstream media and on liberal blogs that don't know what the hell they are talking about. But the blogs below do know. By experience. By location.

A Soldier's Mother --Mother to an IDF soldier. She's one hell of a writer, too.

Israelicool -- Liveblogging the war

Treppenwitz -- An oldie but a goodie, he always has something witty to say.

The Muqata -- Jameel is liveblogging the war as well as giving you quite an accurate portrayal of life in Israel.

Solomonia -- A Boston based political blog with a strong Jewish presence.

A Mother in Israel -- A frum mother of many writes about life in Israel.

Around the Island -- Ah Robin, she's such a mensch. She writes more of family and friends but living in Tel Aviv during the war is starting to affect her life.

Jewlicious -- You're young, hip and Jewish. This is your compendium blog.

Israpundit
-- Politics, punditry, and a great view of the war. Working to bring you the real story.

Elder of Zion -- More politics and punditry from a slightly different viewpoint.

Merehetoric -- You can't argue with this reporting.

Augean Stables -- More political presentation of war news, this guy is a fabulous repository of information, especially on refuting the media.

IDF Spokesperson Blog -- The "official" spokesperson of the Israeli army.

Snapped Shot
-- This blog refutes Hamas and Palestinian claims with visuals. A must see.

Israel Matzav -- Another blog that does a lot of media refuting.

Some of these blogs are a bit more right wing than I am, some are a bit left wing, and most are pretty centrist. Some are written by women, mothers in Israel. Others are written by men. Some are based in Israel, others are based in other countries including the USA. What is common with all of them is that they are determined to spread the truth about what is really going on in Gaza, and they do so with videos, photographs, and links to articles. Several of the blogs refute the major media outlets, especially those that have a decided pro-Palestinian, pro-Hamas stand. Yes, Guardian of London, I'm talking about your vicious attempt to rape Israel.

Two of the blogs, Israelicool and The Muqata are both liveblogging the war. If you want to know what is going on as it happens, those are the blogs to follow. Both are twittering their live blogging as well.

All I can say is, if you believed the media coverage on the school bombing today, then you absolutely NEED to read these blogs. Because the coverage? It sucked. Funny that they forgot to mention that the reason the building exploded with such a huge boom was that it was being used to store explosives and weapons. Funny how most (not CNN) neglected to mention that the shells from Israel hit NEAR but not ON the building, but it still exploded. Funny how the UN school had such a huge amount of explosives in it, isn't it?

And now you know why I wouldn't give the UN one freaking penny ever. EVER. Lying scum.

Bosnia was like that - our students (Bosnian refugees) told of arms stored in schools, tanks parked on playgrounds.
This is a scary war because it looks like it may go on and on and on and on.

Thank you for the link. I don't plan to post much about the war, although it is hard to avoid being preoccupied with it.

You know, my husband did reserve duty for twenty years, occasionally in Gaza and many times in the West Bank. He always used to say that a particular UN school in the West Bank was a real menace because it was the highest vantage point in the village, and so was where all the molotov cocktails and rocks were thrown from. I'll be sure to give a big thank you to the UN for making their infrastructure so available and appropriate to the needs of the local population.

Thanks for the link Margalit, and the kind words. (Hee hee, I'm a mensch *grin*.)

It sickens me to see that people have learned nothing from the terrible tragedy of the Holocaust and the crimes of Nazi Germany. Antisemitism is wrong, HATRED OF JEWS IS WRONG, and goes against everything this country stands for. In criticizing Israel, you are no better than the Nazis, you are Hitler's scion. How dare you value Palestinian lives more than Jewish lives. Israel is located in a very dangerous region, surrounded on all sides by people who hate it, and it has every right to obliterate those nations and the civilians in those nations in order to protect its people from facing another Holocaust. Everyone is so upset that Palestininan children are being killed. But those children would grow up to hate Jews, and try to kill Jews, so it is right and just and God's will that these children also be exterminated. If the Jewish victims of the Holocaust had had Israel's military power and exterminated all of the German Aryans, there would never have been such a terrible tragedy as the Holocaust.

It is incredible to me how ignorant you could be! No one, human life should be more valuable than another. God would never view any of this as righteous. I am not sure what God you believe in but the one I have grown up knowing sure does not condone the murdering of innocent lives especially children. I feel for both sides and I am a Palestinian woman and raised by a Palestinian mother who never raised me with an ounce of hate to grow in my heart. There are many Palestinians who have an apposing view of all this and have to live in very difficult conditions just as many of the Jews do. How unfair of you to think that one side deserves life more than the other. You act as though some Jewish children are not raised to hate Palestinians. It is because of the ignorance of people like you that this war continues. You should be ashamed of yourself and your shameful, hateful views. I am not here to defend any one side but to defend the innocence of all mankind that has been put in the middle of this monster of a war. The Holocaust was a terrible thing to have ever occurred. But this has nothing to do with the Holocaust. This is a holy war and it probably and unfortunately will never end. So go read up and educate yourself because people like you have no place speaking on such sensitive topics. As for everyone else I feel for your losses (if any) and the struggle this is for you! As I am in turmoil seeing such savage acts from both ends of this spectrum!!!!
